About The Photographer
Jerry Schnese, (Snaz) : Self taught, amateur photographer practicing Fine Art Photography in the Fox Cities area of Wisconsin.
All pieces are an expression of my outlook on life. A celebration of triumph over adversity. In 1994 I lost my eyesight and was left totally blind for several months. One of the many health problems resulting from 20+ years of insulin dependant diabetes. My vision; along with many other ailments, were surgically repaired. The retinas were reattached in both eyes and I received a kidney / pancreas transplant. So I'm no longer diabetic.
I take time now, to notice what others may take for granted. I see an abundance of beauty all around us, everywhere, every day.
Much of what I see I capture with my camera. Some of it ends up here, online.
I've been a shutter-bug for most of my life. If I ever need to prove that claim, I have a collection of old snapshots that I've taken, as a child, with a variety of cameras.
It all started with my parents "Brownie", a Polaroid, and later a Minolta "point & shoot". Then Canon's AV-1, a 35mm SLR with several lenses that I borrowed from my brother (thanks Mike). Most recently my first digital camera, a Lumix DMC-FZ30, a very nice mid level / semi-pro camera. For those unfamiliar with a Lumix, it's an excellent combination of Leica optics and Panasonic electronics. (more about Lumix Cameras)
When it comes to photography, I work with what I have. Hey, you've got to start somewhere. Besides...
I am of the opinion that the "eye" of the artist / photographer is the key factor in the artistic merits of artwork / photography, not the equipment. A camera is merely a tool used in the creative proccess, an extension of the artist / photographer.
About The Photography
My imagery is a mixture of color and black & white photography captured with 35 mm film and digital cameras. Most of my subjects are found in nature. Scenic photography, landscape photography, the environment or an abstraction of an interesting object. All captured from a Snaz perspective.
My photography has received accolades from viewers the world over (see / leave comments at my squidoo eGallery). It has been published in Fox Cities Magazine, and is winning awards in photography contests.
The Future & word1001
I plan to expand into other areas of photography and offer web publishing related services to individuals and small businesses.
